With the feature “We live together”.. “YouTube” follows in the footsteps of “TikTok”
YouTube announced the launch of a new feature called "Live Together", which allows creators of premium content to invite guests to participate in the live broadcast. The co-streaming, YouTube announced in a blog post, will initially be available to a select group of creators on the platform, but the site plans to expand it to include more content creators in the future.
How do we "live together"?
• Initially, content creators need to start by entering their broadcast details, including title, description, monetization settings, thumbnails, and visibility settings.
• After selecting the "Invite a broadcast participant" option, the creators will be able to choose a guest to invite to the live broadcast.
• Once the guest clicks on the invitation it will be sent to the waiting room.
• When both people are ready, the host can click on the "Live Broadcast" button.
Head of the Digital Media Division at the Information Technology Chamber of Egypt, Ahmed Sabry, says, "Video and live broadcasting have become at the top of the products that occupy the interests of users of communication platforms around the world, so introducing updates to them and adding features and characteristics to them that meet the aspirations of the public is indispensable to continue, In light of the intense competition between the platforms.
In his speech to Sky News Arabia, Sabri added, "YouTube is gradually shifting from a video site to a social network, as it is Google's most powerful platform and its arm to compete with social media, and prompted it to make its videos on the throne of users' interests, and consider it the king of video platforms in the world. The world, and then it has to keep pace with the updates in this regard, it copied the short video service from Tik Tok, which achieved huge success recently, and now it is cloning the feature of shared broadcasting.”
A few weeks ago, TikTok launched the Multi-Guest feature, which allows hosts to live broadcast with up to 5 other people using a grid or board layout. A week ago, the Twitch platform officially launched a new feature called “Guest,” which allows live broadcasters to easily attract creators and other fans to their broadcast groups, for a talk show-like experience.
Sabry explains that "competitors in the technology market copy the successful experiences created by others, the characteristic of companies currently to maintain their user base and attract more of them to it, thus maximizing profits."
The digital media expert predicts that the new feature will achieve great success for “YouTube”, and it is likely that it will be developed in the future, after its success, that “YouTube” expands the limit of allowing content makers to start broadcasting live with several people. It is also expected to introduce permanent updates to the "YouTube" platform to win the burning competition to attract users with other platforms.
