A new stage for the sale of World Cup tickets
The International Football Association (FIFA) announced, on Wednesday, the opening of a new phase for the sale of tickets for the World Cup matches scheduled in Qatar, as of next Tuesday.
FIFA said in a statement that this stage will start at nine o'clock in the morning GMT under the principle of "first come first served", and not through a lottery, similar to the first and second stages. The new stage ends on August 16, and "this will give fans another opportunity to secure their seats in the biggest football show on earth."
The International Federation added: "We urge football fans to hurry to reserve their seats to watch this historic event, especially since the number of tickets has become numbered after 1.8 million tickets were sold 5 months before the start of the tournament, and this may lead to the creation of waiting lists if the demand increases and the supply decreases." ".
He continued, "It is expected that the world's interest in this sales period will increase after football fans got to know the 32 qualified teams for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar." Tickets will be offered in 4 price categories, the fourth is reserved for "Qatari residents", and each buyer can get a maximum of 6 tickets per match, and 60 tickets for the entire competition.
The Secretary-General of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy organizing the World Cup, Hassan Al-Thawadi, had mentioned, a week ago, the number of 1.2 million tickets sold, and 40 million "standard" requests.
There are 3 million tickets available (two million for sale and one million for FIFA and sponsors), and 1.2 million visitors are expected during the World Cup period between November 21 and December 18.
