You will now be able to edit tweets.. Twitter and the “Edit Button” revolution
After a great deal of controversy, Twitter launched the "Edit Tweets button" for the first time, after years of debate both internally and externally about whether this feature is a good idea for the site.
In a blog post, the company said that the company is specifically testing the "edit button" with a small group of users in the hope of resolving issues with the feature. The edit button will then be rolled out to Twitter Blue users in the coming weeks.
New button details:
1- The editing feature will soon be available to users who pay $4.99 per month to subscribe to the Twitter Blue feature, according to Bloomberg.
2- In the case of subscribing to the feature, users will be allowed to edit the original tweet for 30 minutes after its publication.
3- Even after the modification, the site will flag the modified tweet, so that the user knows that the tweet has been modified.
4- The site will also allow readers to see the original tweet before editing
The topic of adding the edit button sparked a great deal of controversy among users, as some argued that adding the button would allow "abuse without punishment", as abusers could change and modify their tweets.
But the idea of revealing the previous versions of the tweet, is Twitter's solution, to fight bullying and abuse on the site, where everyone will be able to see the original version of the tweet, according to the site.
