Conclusion Head of Administration briefs leaders of the National Advisory Council on the security and humanitarian situation

 Abdulkadir Ahmed “Fardiya”, leader of the Khatima Interim Administration, attended the ongoing National Consultative Council meeting in Mogadishu and briefed the council leaders on the security and humanitarian situation in his area.

Ferdie highlighted the efforts made by his administration to ensure stability and safety in the region, and stressed the importance of addressing security challenges, calling for a fair distribution of aid throughout the country. The Khatma administration urged the Somali Federal Government to direct humanitarian projects directly to its region instead of directing them through Somaliland, as this suggests that the Khatma region is still part of Somaliland.

Fierce battles took place in 2023 between the Khatma administration, led by Fardiyeh, and the Somaliland administration in the city of “Lasanoud” and other areas in the “Sol” region, and the forces affiliated with Khatima were able to tighten their control over “Lasanoud” and those other areas, and gained recognition from the Somali government. However, it is not a federal state that is a member of the Somali government.
