Somali Parliament .. Election of 5 new deputies in Jubbaland

 The legislative elections in Somalia continue in full swing, to be completed by the deadline set on February 25.


In this context, 5 new deputies were elected in Kismayo, Jubbaland State: Abd al-Rashid Muhammad Hadagh, Maulid Abdi Mahmoud, Mahmoud Muhammad Omar, Abd al-Qadir Muhammad Wais and Umar Yusef Qaled Daed, according to the election committees.


This brings the number of Somali People's Assembly deputies elected so far to 170 out of 275 deputies.


The Somali parliament consists of two chambers; The first is the Senate, which represents the states and consists of 54 members, and the election of its members was completed on November 13.


As for the second assembly, it is the People's Assembly, which represents the Somali clans and consists of 275 members. Its own elections were launched on the first of last November and continue until now.


According to the regulations of the electoral process in Somalia, the two houses of the Federal Parliament (the people and the elders) elect the President of the Republic in a joint plenary session.
