James Webb discovers the oldest galaxy in the universe

 NASA's James Webb Telescope has discovered a 13.5 billion-year-old galaxy, making it the oldest in the universe to date. The British newspaper, "Daily Mail", said that the galaxy, called GLASS-z13 (GN-z13), was formed 300 million years after the "Big Bang", which occurred 13.8 billion years ago.


The previous record holder was GN-z11, which was discovered by the Hubble telescope in 2015, and dates back to 400 million years after the "birth of the universe", and it looks like a red spot with a white heart.


The source stated that the galaxy GLASS-z13 was found using the Infrared Camera (NIRCam) instrument, which is capable of detecting light from the oldest stars and galaxies.


The James Webb telescope uses a wide range of infrared light to "see past time," according to the Daily Mail, and this is done by analyzing the time it takes for the light to travel through space.


Scientists at the Harvard and Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in Massachusetts found that GN-z13 is about 1,600 light-years in diameter, making it a "very small galaxy", compared to our galaxy, the Milky Way, which is about 100,000 light-years in diameter.
