Barcelona fans have pinned many hopes, during the past hours, on the possible return of Argentine star Lionel Messi, especially after the club's president, Joan Laporta, hinted at this.

Laporta said, in an interview with ESPN, "I do not think that Messi's story with Barcelona is over. It is still open to possibilities, and it is our responsibility to make sure that this story has a better ending than it was." "I am not happy with the way he left Barcelona," he added.

Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez responded to the popular news about Leo's return, telling the Spanish newspaper "Sport": "It makes no sense to talk about Messi's return to Barcelona at the moment." He added, "Messi has a contract with Paris Saint-Germain, so his return is currently impossible, and we will see what happens in the future."

He continued, "President Joan Laporta has already said that he hopes that Messi's departure will not mark the end of his story with Barcelona." Messi joined Saint-Germain last summer, on a free transfer, after the Catalan club failed to renew his contract.
