The European Union Ambassador presents her credentials to the Somali President
Yesterday, Monday, the new European Union Ambassador, Karin Johansson, presented her credentials to the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud, at the presidential palace in the city of Dosmarib, the capital of Galmudug state in the center of the country.
This historic event represents the first time that credentials were presented to the president outside his office in the presidential palace, “Villa Somalia,” in the capital, Mogadishu.
The Somali President noted, “This is a historic moment that proves that the Somali federal government has influence beyond the capital, Mogadishu, adding that we are here to serve the people of Somalia in all regions of the country.”
For her part, Ambassador Johansson praised the achievements made by Somalia in its war against Al-Shabaab, stressing that relations between the European Union and Somalia are at their highest levels ever.
