Election of a new speaker of the Puntland State Parliament

 The Parliament of Puntland State in northeastern Somalia elected Abdul Razzaq Ahmed Said as its new speaker on Thursday in the city of Garowe, in elections in which 4 candidates competed.

“Saeed” won the position in the first round by obtaining 37 votes, after the other candidates gave up running in the second round of elections, so that he became alone in the elections and won the position.

Abdul Razzaq Ahmed Said, who is considered a close associate of President Said Abdullahi Deni, was the former head of the Puntland State Election Commission.
