The Civil Aviation Authority threatens to take strict measures to ensure the safety and security of Somali airspace

In a statement issued on Monday, the Somali Civil Aviation Authority hinted at taking more stringent measures to ensure the safety and security of Somali airspace. The authority expressed its concern about the disturbances caused by Somaliland in air traffic in the northern regions and its ignoring of warnings.

This came after obstructing air traffic services over the northern regions (Somaliland), which the authority considered a violation of local and international civil aviation regulations.

The authority stated in the statement that “the Somali government remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of its airspace.” We have issued warnings and notifications to all parties concerned, including the international community. Unfortunately, the regional administration did not respond as expected.”

The Authority stressed that it may be necessary to take further measures to protect Somali civil aviation. “The Somali government will have to take more stringent measures to ensure the security and safety of Somali civil aviation,” she said.
