The Somali President meets the Minister of State at the British Ministry of Defense in Mogadishu

 Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud received on Sunday the Minister of State at the British Ministry of Defence, James Stephen Hebbey, who arrived in Mogadishu on an official visit on Saturday.

The two leaders discussed the security situation in Somalia, the achievements of the Somali Armed Forces, and the ongoing war against terrorism, and President Mahmoud highlighted the recent lifting of the arms embargo on Somalia, which he said was a sign of the country's progress and stability.

He also expressed his gratitude to the United Kingdom for its support in training and equipping Somali forces, which are preparing to assume full responsibility for the country's security after the withdrawal of the African Transitional Mission in Somalia.

Minister Hebe praised the Somali people and government for their remarkable efforts in restoring peace and stability in the country, and reaffirmed the United Kingdom's commitment to continue working with Somalia in the areas of defense and counter-terrorism. He also praised the cooperation between the two countries, which he said was built on mutual respect and common interests.
