Somalia and Saudi Arabia discuss enhancing relations and cooperation
His Excellency Ali Yusuf “Housh”, Minister of the Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation of the Somali Government met with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Somalia, His Excellency Ahmed Mohamed Al-Muwallad.The meeting discussed strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries, and the minister and the ambassador explored various ways of cooperation, including security, economic development, and humanitarian assistance. They stressed the importance of strengthening the partnership between Somalia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to achieve common goals and confront common challenges.
The Somali Minister of Interior expressed his gratitude for the support of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to promote peace and stability in Somalia, highlighted the progress made in the country's security sector, especially in combating terrorism and piracy, and praised the valuable contributions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in this regard.
For his part, the ambassador affirmed his country's commitment to supporting the development and stability of Somalia, and stressed the importance of continuing cooperation in areas such as infrastructure development, education, and health care. He also expressed the Kingdom's readiness to assist Somalia in its efforts to combat terrorism and extremism.
The two countries agreed on the need to increase cooperation in the areas of trade and investment, and discussed the possibility of establishing joint projects in sectors such as agriculture, fisheries and energy, which could contribute to economic growth and job creation in Somalia.
