The Banadir Regional Court acquits the former Immigration Director and a Ministry of Finance official of corruption charges

 Yesterday, Saturday, the Banadir Regional Court acquitted the former director of the Somali Immigration and Citizenship Agency, Mohamed Adam Jumali “Kofi,” and Muhyiddin Hassan Gurus, director of the Tax Department in the Ministry of Finance, of corruption charges.

The president of the court said that the court announced the acquittal of the two officials, the dropping of all charges against them, and the restoration of their legal rights, after hearing sessions that lasted 9 months of investigation into the matter.

The court’s decision comes amid reports that Mohamed Adam Jamali “Kofi” is among several candidates who will compete for the position of president of Galmudug state. Kofi is expected to arrive in the country in the coming days.
