The Somali President receives the Acting Special Representative of the United Nations in Somalia

 On Tuesday, the President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud, received in his office the Acting Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Somalia, Ambassador James Swan. James Swan, for his part, expressed his appreciation for the warm reception he received, and affirmed the United Nations' commitment to supporting the Somali government in line with its national priorities.

The aim of the meeting was to further strengthen the close partnership between the Federal Government of Somalia and the United Nations in vital areas, including humanitarian affairs, peace and security.

The President's reception of Swan came after another meeting held by the international official with Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre, which focused on strengthening cooperation between Somalia and the United Nations. During the meeting, Barre expressed his gratitude to the United Nations for its firm support for Somalia.
