The Gulf Summit renews its support for the Republic of Somalia to achieve security and stability

 Yesterday, Friday, the Supreme Council of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf affirmed the support of the Federal Republic of Somalia in order to consolidate the foundations of security and stability. This came during the work of the 43rd session of the summit of leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council, which was inaugurated, yesterday, Friday, by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, on behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz.


The Council renewed the GCC states' keenness to maintain stability and security in the region, support the prosperity of their peoples, and strengthen the Council's relations with brotherly and friendly countries and regional and international organizations, stressing that the security of the GCC states is an indivisible whole. The Supreme Council also welcomed the presidency of its forty-fourth session to Qatar.


The Saudi crown prince confirmed that the kingdom intends to present a new vision to promote the development of the Gulf states. He said that the close cooperation between the Gulf countries will lead to achieving the desired goals. He pointed out that the Kingdom has launched several initiatives to access clean energy. He stressed that the Gulf countries will remain a reliable source of energy in the world, and indicated that the Gulf Cooperation Council is aware of the importance of sustainable development, pointing to the continuation of work to confront climate change and the serious endeavor to solve and address its effects.


On Sudan, the Supreme Council welcomed the joint declaration on December 5, 2022 regarding agreement on a preliminary political framework and constitutional arrangements that will lead Sudan during the transitional period.


On Qatar, Prince Mohammed bin Salman congratulated Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad on the occasion of the outstanding success in hosting the 2022 World Cup. The Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council renewed the keenness of the GCC states to maintain stability and security in the region and support the prosperity of their peoples.


The closing statement of the summit, in its 43rd session, stressed the importance of strengthening joint military action to achieve collective security for the GCC states. He praised the pioneering role played by the United Arab Emirates in confronting the phenomenon of climate change, and renewed its welcome and support for the UAE's hosting of COP28 in 2023 to support international efforts in this framework. He also welcomed its declaration of commitment to achieving zero carbon neutrality by 2050. The Supreme Council affirmed its support for decisions The OPEC + group aimed at achieving balance in the oil markets.


The Supreme Council affirmed its keenness on the strength and cohesion of the Cooperation Council, and the unity of ranks among its members, affirming that its countries stand together in the face of any threat to any of the countries of the Council.


On Palestine, the Supreme Council affirmed its firm positions on the centrality of the Palestinian cause, its support for the sovereignty of the Palestinian people over all the Palestinian territories occupied since June 1967, the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, and the guarantee of the rights of refugees, in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative and the resolutions of international legitimacy. He appreciated the efforts made by the Arab countries to achieve national reconciliation, to restore Palestinian national unity, and to reunite the Palestinians.
