The UAE strongly condemned the terrorist attack that targeted a hotel in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, which resulted in a number of deaths and injuries. No one has claimed responsibility for the bombing that took place in Somalia, but the Al-Shabaab movement, which is linked to Al-Qaeda, has been carrying out such attacks, and the UAE is helping Somalia to overcome all these crises.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation affirmed that the UAE expresses its strong condemnation of these criminal acts, and its permanent rejection of all forms of violence, extremism and terrorism aimed at undermining security and stability and contradicting human values and principles.

The Ministry expressed its sincere condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims as a result of this heinous crime, and its wishes for a speedy recovery for all the injured. According to local sources and eyewitnesses, the explosion was caused by a landmine planted on the side of the road, targeting the secretary of the local administration in the Kadha district of the capital, Mogadishu, where the mine exploded after the official and his bodyguards crossed, without anyone being harmed.

The bombing, which took place in Mogadishu, comes the day after the end of the security forces’ siege of the “Villa Rosa” hotel, after an armed attack led by six gunmen from the terrorist Al-Shabaab movement. The UAE is working to provide all support and assistance to the country.
