The international community calls on the Somali leaders to continue the state-building process
In a joint statement, Somalia's international partners urged Somali leaders to strengthen efforts to build the state and ensure security and stability. The international community welcomed the renewed focus on the constitutional review process, resource sharing, federal power and reconciliation, all of which are critical to Somalia's long-term stability.
The statement encouraged all stakeholders to engage constructively in achieving state-building priorities and to resolve any differences through dialogue and consultation.
The joint statement was issued by the United Nations, the African Union Transitional Mission in Somalia, the Intergovernmental Authority on East African States “IGAD”, the Arab League, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Belgium, Denmark, Djibouti, Egypt, Ethiopia, the European Union, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Kenya, Norway, Poland, Qatar, the Russian Federation, Sudan, Sweden, Turkey, Uganda, the United Kingdom and the United States .
