Google has warned that it will delete a large number of accounts in its Gmail email service soon. Google said that this step comes as part of tightening security measures in Gmail. And it stated that thousands of abandoned and unused accounts may be stolen within months, amid fears of fraud and piracy, according to the British newspaper, “Daily Mail”, on Tuesday.

The list of accounts on the deletion list includes those whose passwords have been compromised, as well as accounts whose owners have not undergone a security check in more than two years, including failing to turn on two-factor verification.

And Google wrote on its blog: “People want the products and services they consume online safe and sound,” noting that this prompted it to invest a lot in digital security and confronting Internet hackers. to penetration if not used for a long time.

She attributed this to the fact that forgotten or unused accounts depend on old or reused passwords, which makes them vulnerable to hacking, in addition to not using the two-factor verification feature and performing fewer security checks.
