Among the most prominent indicators announced by the UAE Minister of Economy are that hotel establishments will receive 25 million guests during 2022, an increase of 30% from 2021, and an increase in the number of tourist nights to 91 million nights during 2022, with a growth rate of 18% from 2021, and an increase in hotel establishment revenues to reach 38 billion dirhams during 2022, achieving a growth of 35% compared to 2021, and the hotel occupancy rate reached 71% in the 1,198 hotel establishments, especially since the hotel occupancy rate in the UAE is among the highest in the world.
Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy, stated that the UAE is witnessing an increasing and continuous growth in the hotel and hospitality sector, as it has a market share of 18% of the total number of contracted hotel rooms in the Middle East and North Africa region, with a total of 223,000 rooms.
According to a report issued by Knight Frank, the hotel room market in the UAE will grow by 25% by 2030, with a total of 48,000 new hotel rooms, which confirms the further recovery and growth of the tourism sector in the UAE.
The Emirati minister revealed that his country has succeeded in maintaining its position among the 12 best destinations in the world, attracting more than 10 million visitors annually, which contributed to the consolidation of the country's position as a "leading global tourist destination."
The announcement of these figures comes about a month after the British “STR” institution specialized in research and consulting revealed that the UAE ranked first in terms of hotel occupancy rates globally, after it reached 86.4% during the week that began on March 12. last March.
