Somali forces thwart two car bomb attacks in the city of Dosmarib
Today, Thursday, Somali security forces succeeded in thwarting two car bomb attacks on the outskirts of the city of Dosmarib, the capital of Galmudug state in central Somalia.
The two explosions occurred near the city's airport and at a security checkpoint after soldiers opened fire on the drivers of the two explosive-laden vehicles before they reached their target. Security officials in the city indicated that they had received advance information about the car bombs, which enabled them to prevent the planned terrorist attacks.
This incident occurred while Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud was leading a military campaign from the city of Dosmarib, where the president temporarily moved his office months ago to that city to supervise operations aimed at eliminating the Al-Shabaab movement loyal to Al-Qaeda.
