President Hassan Sheikh talks about his government's war against Al-Shabaab

President Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud, who participated in a meeting organized by the RUSI Security Research Center in London, spoke about the war his government is waging against Al-Shabaab and his vision for the long-term future of Somalia.

Sheikh Mahmoud indicated that the Somali federal government has developed new plans against the group, which lost control of more than 80 regions due to military operations against it, and explained that his government has delivered basic services, such as: free education, health, and water to the liberated areas.

The President stated that his government has developed a clear policy to combat terrorism based on three axes: a military war, an economic war, and an intellectual war. The President spoke about the government's plan to take over the country's security after the withdrawal of African Union forces from Somalia late next year, and called on countries friendly to Somalia to support the reconstruction and development of the country.

The President praised the Somali people for their role in the struggle for liberation and pointed out that they are the basis of the achievements achieved by the national forces in liberating the country.
