The Somali federal government has appointed former presidential candidate Jibril Ibrahim Abdullahi as the new ambassador to Kenya after the end of the term of Ambassador Mahmoud Ahmed Nur “Tersen”, who had held the position since 2018.The appointment of the new ambassador, who lived and worked in Kenya according to various sources, comes within the framework of improving diplomatic and bilateral relations between the two countries, which were interrupted for a period during the era of former President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo.
Earlier this month, the Kenyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs bid farewell to “Tersen” at a ceremony held in the capital, Nairobi. Likewise, President William Ruto bid farewell to the former Ambassador at the State House in Nairobi, where he expressed his appreciation and stressed the great contribution made by the Ambassador in enhancing cooperation between Kenya and Somalia.
