Russia delivers food aid to the Somali government

The Russian ambassador to Djibouti and Somalia arrived in Mogadishu to deliver food aid to the Somali federal government.

The Russian ambassador to Djibouti and Somalia, Mikhail Golovanov, arrived in Mogadishu on Saturday to deliver food aid to the Somali federal government, and a Russian ship carrying 25 tons of grain is expected to arrive at the Mogadishu port within the next few days.

This comes within the framework of the Russian government's initiative to provide food aid to African countries facing food insecurity and humanitarian crises, and Somalia is the first recipient of this aid, which was announced by the Russian government a few months ago.

The ambassador was received at Mogadishu Airport by the Somali Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Dawud Awis Jama, and the Director of the European Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abdirahman Nur Mohamed (Dinari), who expressed their gratitude and appreciation to the government and people of Russia for their generous support and solidarity.

The food aid is expected to benefit thousands of Somali families in need of humanitarian assistance, and the Russian government has pledged to continue its humanitarian and development cooperation with Somalia and other African countries.
