The Somali Prime Minister bids farewell to the outgoing United Nations Special Representative

 Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hamza Abdi Barre, bid farewell today in his office to the outgoing Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Somalia, Catriona Laing.

He praised Brie Baling for her pivotal role in strengthening the relationship between Somalia and the United Nations during her term. For her part, Ling thanked the Somali government and its citizens for their cooperation and hospitality throughout her work.

In May 2023, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, appointed Catriona Laing as his special representative to Somalia and head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia, succeeding James Swan.
