Instagram allows users to shop through direct messages
Meta Platforms, the parent company of Instagram, said that the site will launch a new feature that will allow its users to buy from small businesses through direct messages. The company said that the new Instagram feature will also allow the use of the MetaPay payment service to complete purchases.
Meta added that users of the photo-sharing application will communicate with the company with a direct message, add details of their request if necessary, and place the purchase order on the messaging page with the company.
Users will be able to track the order and ask any questions to follow it up on the same messaging page. This feature supports Meta's endeavor to expand its e-commerce offering.
