The opposition National Party criticizes the return of the election law to the Senate

The opposition “Watani” party in Somaliland strongly criticized President Musa Bihi Abdi’s return of Election Law No. 91 to the Senate. Opposition parties in Somaliland accused President Musa Bihi of undermining democracy and obstructing every opportunity to move the Somaliland region forward.

Last week, the President of Somaliland, Musa Bihi, received the law after the House of Representatives annulled the amendments made by the Senate. However, instead of signing the law, Bihi returned it to the Senate.

Speaking to local media in Hargeisa on Monday, Mohamed Farah Abdi, spokesman for the Watani Party, said: “Something has happened that has not happened in Somaliland for 32 years. After the President sends the bill to the Senate, it indicates the direction our country is headed. “As a party, we will respond strongly and take swift action.”
