The Somali army commander meets his Saudi counterpart in Riyadh
The Commander of the Somali National Army, Major General Ibrahim Sheikh Muhyiddin, met with his Saudi counterpart, Chief of the General Staff, First Lieutenant General, Fayyad bin Hamid Al-Ruwaili, in Riyadh, on Friday, as part of a working visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.The two military commanders discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations between their countries and support the Somali National Army. They also exchanged views on the regional security situation and cooperation in the war against terrorism, especially the threat posed by Al-Shabaab.
The Somali government seeks to strengthen its relations with Saudi Arabia and other regional allies, as part of its efforts to restore stability and development in the country.
It should be noted that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia provides humanitarian and military aid to Somalia, as well as its participation in support of the African Union Mission in Somalia (ATMIS), which is a peacekeeping force that helps the Somali government in combating Al-Shabaab.
