Launching the Peace Principles Initiative in Mogadishu

A new project to promote dialogue and reconciliation, Principles of Peace, was launched in Mogadishu on Wednesday, in the presence of Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre, and representatives from local, regional and international organizations.

In his speech on the occasion, Prime Minister Berri expressed his hope that Somalia would soon become a place of peace, dialogue, democracy and progress. Berri stated that the Federal Ministry of the Interior is the leader on reconciliation issues, and that it is important to coordinate ongoing peace activities in the country.

He also expressed his gratitude to the Peace Principles Organization for its work in Somalia. He noted that they were born at a time when there was a lot of fear in the world, but they chose to work for peace and reconciliation. He added that their cooperation in Somalia will increase significantly.
